Suspended Conscience

Date:

Adage goes that those who shift their loyalties for their personal gains do not have dead conscience but they keep it in suspended animation. Same holds true with one of our ‘elected’ functionaries in SMC who hitherto was in a big political party to save his skin from the wrath of banks and other enforcement institutions. Now sensing that the wind blows from the other side, the same entrepreneur has shifted his loyalties and taken ‘oath of allegiance’ to a house that holds some command over power corridors.

Nevertheless, these things are very common in Kashmir and people are enough mature to judge such actors without the help of any political psychologist. We have enough of such political and non political entities in this state who have been just concerned about the well-being of their personal interests. Come what may, they will always keep an eye on the opportunities available for their personal gains. They even do not shy away attaching the sobriquets with their names to hide their ugly agenda. Conflict ridden families who have lost their kith and kin in the din of the unfortunately directionless political issue hardly matters for such personalities. Not to think of their interests and their well-being. They don’t give it a damn.

Need of the hour is that majority should participate in the democratic process so that the street urchins and selfish entities are not provided a chance to occupy the chairs they do not deserve.
