Srinagar, 2nd October, : The only sign of normalcy, in two months of disrupted life, Private vehicular traffic, in the aftermath of abrogation of Article 370 on 5th August, registered a significant decline on Wednesday due to the public holiday on account of Gandhi Jayanti.
Shops, business establishments and private offices continued to remain shut, even on 59th day of continuous lockdown, while public transport barring few small and medium public transport vehicles and auto rickshaws were seen plying on the roads.
While landlines are completely operational throughout the valley, mobile and internet services continued to remain suspended for 59th day in a row.
Shopkeepers in various localities of Srinagar opened their shops in the morning and evening hours for a brief period, while the shutters of their shops and were completely down for rest of the day.
Train service between Baramulla and Banihal also completed 57 days of suspension on Monday, keeping inter-district railway movement under stagnation for almost two month now.
