LoC flare-up: 2 siblings, their mother killed, army major among 4 injured in Poonch

Poonch, : Two siblings and their mother were killed while as four others including an army major and a soldier were injured as India and Pakistan troops continued shelling at Salootri in Krishna Ghati area of Poonch district of Jammu.

Incharge Police Post Jhullas, Sub-Inspector Rasheed Kasana told GNS that two siblings– Mohammad Faizan (5), and Shabnum Kounsar (9) and their mother Rubeena Kounsar (22) wife of son of Mohd Younis died on the spot and two other persons suffered injuries when a mortar shell fired by Pakistani army hit their house at Salotri village.

The officer identified the deceased as Mohammad Faizan (5), Shabnum Kounsar (9) and their mother Rubeena Kounsar (22) wife of son of Mohd Younis. The officer the injured as Mohd Younis and Parvaiz Akthar.

The police officer said that two injured persons have been taken to nearby hospital from where one of them, Younis was referred to GMC Jammu.

The officer said that two army soldiers including an officer of Major rank of 39 RR also received injuries. “Both the injured were taken to military hospital for treatment”. When reports last came in the shelling was going on in the area.

Meanwhile, 300 people comprising 60 households left house in ward no. 10 in Balnoie in Mankote sector. Ghulam Hussain (70), who has stayed back, told GNS that India and Pakistan must realize that war was no solution but brings miseries only. (GNS)
