Spontaneous shutdown in parts of Kashmir

Srinagar, March 1 : Parts of Kashmir valley are shut amid restrictions imposed by government forces in wake of the official ban on Jamaat e Islami (JeI).

“Anantnag, Bijbehra, Shopian, Handwara are shut completely while as restrictions have been imposed in Old Srinagar and other parts of south Kashmir including Anantnag town and Bijbehara,” official sources told GNS.

The shutdown and restrictions follow the Home Ministry’s ban on socio-religious organisation Jamaat-e-Islami and Union Cabinet’s approval to extension of two central constitutional amendments to Jammu and Kashmir without consent of the state Assembly which currently stands dissolved. (GNS)
