Srinagar, Jun 28 : The deck for extension of President’s rule in the Jammu and Kashmir has been cleared as the  Lok Sabha gave its nod to  the proposal of the union government on Friday.

The extension will begin from July 03,with Home Minister Amit Shah asserting that assembly elections in the state will be held in a democratic, free and fair manner as soon as the Election Commission announces the dates.

Earlier today, according to Indian Expreee, Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah moved a statutory resolution in the Lok Sabha to extend President’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir for a period of six months.

Moving the resolution, he said, the state assembly has been dissolved and the Election Commission has decided to hold fresh elections in Jammu and Kashmir later this year, it is essential that the President’s Rule be extended for another six months with effect from July 3, 2019.

Further, the home minster  said during the Governor’s Rule and later President’s Rule, the government has hit at the roots of terrorism. He told the House that the state has witnessed bloodshed in previous elections; however, things have changed now and urged the members to rise above party lines to support the resolution.
