BANDIPORA, Aug 7: A 12-year-old boy Umar Gul of Bagtore village of Gurez valley of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district drowned today in Kishan Ganga Nallah at around 3:00 pm today.
He was declared dead on reterieval of his body.
Locals while talking to Kashmir Despatch over phone said that with the efforts of Police and Indian army the body was fished out from Nallah and shifted to NTPC Bagtore Gurez. However, the attendants found the gate of hospital closed.
“The body was later shifted towards Community Health Center Dawar where the doctors declared him dead upon arrival, “ Officials told Kashmir Despatch.
As the news spread, the locals blocked Bagtore Dawar road and raised slogans against Health Department.
The locals blamed the Health Department for being responsible for this death as they had found hospital gate locked.
Due to closure of the hospital, the protesters sand that the boy was ferried to NTPHC Dawar, a 10 kms distance from Bagtore village.
Meanwhile, when contacted BMO Gurez Dr Tahira didn’t respond to various calls made by this reporter.
