Classes resumed in the Kashmir University (KU) after the release of a student on bail, who was arrested for his alleged links with militants though students said he was taken into custody for opposing Yoga, reports said on Wednesday.
KU officials said that classes have resumed from today in the campus however, the attendance was less as students, including girls, who had gone to their homes after they were asked to vacate hostels, could not make it to the campus.
Muzamil Farooq Dar, a third semester student of English department, was arrested on June 23 from his rented room at Sadarbal, triggering massive protests in the campus, forcing the authorities to suspend classes, first till 27 and then extended till June 30.
Additional Sessions Judge Srinagar, S R Gandhi yesterday granted bail to Muzamil till July 6 and ordered his release. The court said Muzamil cannot leave Kashmir valley with prior permission.
