To protest the deadly attacks on Kashmir- bound truckers by a mob at Udhampur on Friday evening, Valley traders Sunday called for “Kashmir Band” to be observed on Monday. Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Forum (KTMF) – an amalgam of various trade bodies – have called for complete shutdown across Kashmir on Monday to protest the “murderous assault” on Kashmiri truckers in Udhampur district of Jammu region. The traders who also staged protest demonstrations at Press Enclave on Sunday said that, “Two Kashmiri truckers were set on fire by a mob in Shakti Nagar area of Jammu on Friday night”. In a statement issued to KNS, KTMF president Mohammad Sadiq Baqalwho led a protest in Srinagar against the assault, appealed people to observe a complete shutdown on Monday. Meanwhile, Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement has supported the strike call on 12th October 2015 (Monday) given by Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) against the burning of Truck with three persons on board at Udhampur. (KNS) Chairman, Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Ahmad Shah also supported the Kashmir Band call given by the Kashmir traders. President Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Association, Bashir Ahmad Bashir who spoke to KNS also supported the call given by the KTMF and asked people to observe complete shutdown. Meanwhile, Downtown Contractors Association also supported the Kashmir Band call of traders.
