Police Friday claimed to have arrested an over-ground worker of a militant outfit from Pulwama bus stand where two civilians were injured in a firing incident. The worker, they said, was clad in a burqa. News agency GNS reported that a police team raided the bus stand today afternoon and tried to arrest the suspected persons; in the meantime, the suspected persons fired few shots and tried to flee. The gunshots created panic among the locals, eyewitness said, adding that SOG men also retaliated and overpowered the burqa-clad man. Two civilians identified as Rehti Begium and Reyaz Ahmad Teli, both residents of Arihal Pulwama sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of firing. The injured persons were immediately evacuated to nearby hospital for treatment, they said. Superintendent of Police (SP) Pulwama Tijender Singh told GNS that following a specific information about the presence of some militants, a special police team of SOG and CRPF raided at bus stand Pulwama. “As such the police team tried to apprehend the suspected militants who were sitting in a sumo, one among them opened fire which created chaos in the area”, SP said. In the incident, two civilians including a woman and a man received injuries, he said. “The troopers chased them (attackers) and were able to arrest one of their members who was wearing woman clothes”, SP said. “The apprehended person, an OGW and has been identified as Tariq Ahmad of Drach, Pulwama”, he said. As the news spread in the area, there was a spontaneous shutdown in the area, witness said.
