Four days before the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting the Srinagar, security forces have begun setting up checkpoints and intensified patrolling. Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, which will host the Prime Minister’s rally on Saturday, will be guarded by a multi-layered ring of security forces personnel One of the top police official of the police told KNS that police will ensure all precautionary measures for smooth rally of Prime Minister’. “As part of the security measures, the state police and central paramilitary personnel have launched multiple area domination operations, including random frisking of civilian vehicles. The security set-up will be further strengthened on a daily basis ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit,” the official said. The sources said the frisking of private vehicles, setting up of checkpoints and patrolling would be intensified in the coming days but it would be increased gradually to avoid creating a scare. According to the KNS correspondent the security forces also have checkpoints during night hours in the city and are guarding the entry points into Srinagar. It is to mention here that the police had also launched a crackdown against separatists, who have called a million march in the city on the day the Prime Minister will be here. The march, which has been called by Syed Ali Geelani’s faction and is supported by the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front, is scheduled at the Tourist Reception Centre ground. Meanwhile if sources are to be believed then Police has also put Known stone pelters on its list and if the need arises they would also be taken into preventive custody. Strict directions have been passed to the police to take all precautionary measures to ensure smooth rally of Prime Minister on November 7. A close watch is being kept on the stone throwers,” a Police source said but added that there is no direction yet to take them into preventive custody.
