At least six persons were injured and forty two vehicles damaged in stone pelting attacks on North Kashmir highway after youth attacked them. These people were returning back to their homes after attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at Sher-I-Kashmir Cricket Stadium here. According to KNS correspondent from Kupwara , as the cabs were moving to their destinations, youth appeared on roads and pelted the vehicles with stones. The youth pelted stones on the vehicles in Narbal and Laway Pora in Srinagar outskirts, Nathipora and Unsoo in Sopore, Selu and Shangergund. Six persons were injured in the attacks who were identified as as Ghulam Nabi War of Salamabad Uri, Hanibulah Khan of Vilgam Kupwara, Gulzar Ahamd, Mohammad Akbar of Hanjipora Kupwara, Azad Ahamd Wani (Driver) of Laderwan, Kupwara. These vehicles included JK09_ 7181, JK09_ 8959, JK 09 _6184 ,JK 05A_ 2970 ,JK05 C_8833, JK 09_3727, JK09 _ 637, JK01_V_ 3201, JK01_s_ 8920, JK09_ 9509, Jk05A _ 085,Jk05A _1692, JK05C _1405, JK05C _9679, JK09A _2666, JK05C _582, JK09 _5014, JK09 _4709, JK09 _3666, Jk05D _1419, JK 09 _4337, JK05A _1644, Jk05D _0719,JK 09A _ 2692, Jk05D 5122, JK 09 _5420, JK05C _ 827, JK09 _1094, JK 05D _ 748, JK 05C_ 1817, Jk05D _ 3412, JK05C _ 8265 and JK09 _519. Large number of people had come to the rally from across the Valley, with a significant number from North Kashmir, particulary Kupwara district. President Sumo Association Handwara Manzoor Ahamd Lone told KNS that their vehicles were attacked at Nathipora, Selu, Shangergund, Narbal and Laway Pora along the Highway. Lone accused security forces of not providing sufficient protection on the highway while they were coming back from the rally venue in Srinagar. Confirming the attacks on cabs, a police official on condition of anonymity told KNS that the vehicles were damaged as youth attacked the vehicles carrying people from PM’s rally along the highway.
