Directorate Industries Jammu has gone headless from last one month as its incumbent Director has gone for leave after he reportedly had a tiff with commissioner Secretary industries, KNS has learnt. According to the official sources Dr Abdul Rashid who was posted as Director Industries by the National Conference government has gone on medical leave after a tiff with Industries and Commerce Minister Chandar Prakash Ganga and Commissioner Secretary during the meeting. “Soon after Shalinder Kumar took over charge of Commissioner he held a meeting with all the heads of the corporations and industries to review the performance. The meeting discussed various central and state government schemes. Accordingly various HOD’S have provided their complete data of the performance and details of the incentives which are applicable to the MSME sector,” sources said. However sources said that the commissioner found various loop holes in the office of Directorate Jammu as far as the land allotments, incentives and other issues were concerned,” Sources added that this infuriated the commissioner and he showed his dissatisfaction over the working of the directorate of industries and commerce Jammu. “The Director was however of the plea that no loop hole is left by him and he is working with zeal and zest,” sources said. Sources said that immediately after the review the Director Industries Dr Rashid proceeded on medical leave and the charge was given to Joint director Industries and commerce Jammu Mohinder Verma. One of the senior officials of the Industries and commerce on condition of anonymity said that besides a review meeting taken by the commissioner industries, a video conference was also held by the Minister, where in besides Director Industries Jammu, senior ranking officers of the government were also present. “I can say that during the video conference, performance of the Directorate industries Jammu was not found satisfactory,” the official said. When contacted Dr Rashid he denied that he has gone to leave over a tiff with the commissioner. “Who told you? It is rubbish. I am joining office most probably on January 12”. However interestingly Joint Director Jammu Industries Mohindar Verma said that the Director was supposed to join the office on 23 December. “I think he has gone for leave on 28 November and was supposed to join the office on December 23,” It is to mention here that there is a mixed reaction on this from MSME sector. Few of the promoters have said that the Dr Rashid was a kind of person who did not budge when former industries minister Sajad Ahmad Kichloo was in power. “Rashid Sahab put on hold all instruction of Kichloo about the allotment of land to the influential people unjustifiably,” one of the industrialists of Kashmir said. He said that on having denied the wrong instructions of the then I&C minister Kichloo, Rashid was transferred,” However he said that Dr Rashid sough intervention of court and later got transfer order quashed.
