A day after the government announces screening tests for Rehber-e-Taleem’s (ReT), President of Teaches Association Forum, Abdul Qayoom Wani on Wednesday said that they will boycott the test and won’t allow anyone to go for it. While talking to KNS over phone, Wani said that they are going to boycott the test and in case the government won’t revoke the order, they will stage state wide protest against them. “Naeem Akhtar should identify those persons having fake certificates. By entering for screening tests, the teachers will lose their credibility, which he should keep in mind,” he said. He said that they will hold meeting in all the three regions on January 3, “On January 7, we are going to hold state executive meeting and will stage protest against the state government from 14th of the same month,” he said. He further said that the University Grant Commission’s (UGC) recognized universities should be unrecognized at earliest. “If the government is serious to streamline the educational sector them they should unrecognized the universities at earliest rather than announcing screening test for ReT’s,” he said. Pertinently, on Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir government issued an order to conduct the screening tests of ReT teachers to assess their teaching ability. According to the order, all ReTs and RReTs who have obtained degrees from study centres/distance mode which have been reckoned at the time of engagement as ReT, and persons figuring in the selection Panel for fresh engagement as ReTs, shall have to write the test. The syllabi for the test has also been announced by the government, read the order, signed by Shaleen Kabra, Commissioner/Secretary to Government School Education Department.
