In a significant development the Jammu and Kashmir government here sanctioned Rs 30 crore for blacktopping of roads in Ladkah region. Chairman Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa told KNS over phone that R&B minister Altaf Bukhari made announcement after they met him in the civil secretariat Jammu. “Most of the roads in Ladkah have been badly damaged. The rains and floods have rendered them slushy. But now we are thankful to the minister that he gave instructions to release the funds immediately. He said that apart from up-gradation of certain existing road, they also demanded construction of new roads in the district under NABARD and PMGSY schemes. He said that the minister has assured that the road connectivity is high on the agenda of the Government and that all the roads of the district would be upgraded and repaired in a time bound manner. Dawa said that the minister also promised that he will visit Ladkah and inspect the condition of the roads. He added that with the release of funds many roads will be taken up in hand for the welfare of people.
