Ruling out any constitutional or political crisis in the state following the death of chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, PDP Thursday said that the time to take oath will be decided by the party president herself. “There is no constitutional or political crisis in the state. Normally, oath takes place after 24 hours when a sitting chief minister dies. However, as per constitution, there is no fixed deadline for the next head to take oath,” a senior most PDP leader told KNS. Two senior PDP leaders, Muzaffar Hussain Beg and Altaf Bukhari, have met Governor, N N Vohra this evening, which created flutter that Mehbooba Mufti will be taking oath tonight here. “The two leaders met the Governor to discuss as to when will be the suitable time to take oath ceremony of Mehbooba Ji. The Governor told them that the party should decide about the right time,” the leader told KNS. “Now, it is upto Mehbooba ji to decide. But she is in deep shock right now as her father, with whom she had close affection, has passed away,” the leader said. The leader, however, hinted that though there “is a possibility” that Mehbooba may take oath tomorrow. “But she can choose when she desires suitable,” he said. Mehbooba is the consensus candidate of the PDP being its president, and BJP has also dropped hints that they will go by the PDP’s choice. “Mehbooba is acceptable to everybody in the party,” the leader said.
