Senior political leaders have expressed their deep sorrow over the death of chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who passed away at AIIMS this morning. Peoples Democratic Front leader and its General Secretary, Abdul Qayoom, while expressing condolences with the family of Mufti, said that the deceased politician was a visionary leader who stood for the welfare of the state. Qayoom said that Mufti’s death is a huge loss to the political spectrum of the state. Senior PDP leader Ghulam Hussain, while condoling the demise of Mufti Sayeed, said that he was the leader of masses and worked for the upliftment of the downtrodden. “He was popular in all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir.” Senior PDP leader and former Youth General Secretary Showkat Gayoor has expressed great loss over the death of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. “Mufti sahab was a great statesman, great political leader, secular and nationalist. He was like my father, who always gave me affection and regard. I have no words to express sadness on this painful occasion. We have lost an institution in him,” Gayoor, who is the Executive Member of IUST, told KNS over phone in a weeping tone. “Nobody can fill the political vacuum and void that Mufti sahab has left,” he said.
