Bhartiya Janata Party Friday said that it has discussed the process of Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti taking over as the next chief minister of the state following the death of sitting CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. “We (Mehbooba Mufti and I) had some discussions over the future of the government, but I will not be able to tell more details about these deliberations right now,” Ram Madhav, BJP General Secretary, told reporters here after meeting with PDP president at Fairview Residence in Gupkar. “I went to meet Mehbooba to express my condolences on the demise of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed,” Madhav said. Despite pressed by reporters over the time-frame of Mehbooba Mufti taking oath as CM, he said: When time will come, we will let you know.” The BJP leader the Governor of the state, N N Vohra, will be in a position to comment on the constitutional crisis of the state when asked about it. Following his hour-long meeting, Madhav drove to Government’s Circuit House at Church Lane and met with the BJP’s state party leaders for more than an hour to discuss with them the issue of Mehbooba Mufti becoming CM of the state. The BJP leaders included Avinash Rai Khanna, national Vice President, State president Sat Sharma, former president Jugal Kishore, state general secretary Ashok Koul, Dr Nirmal Singh. Lal Singh, Sukhnanda, Bali Bhagat and all other legislators. Sources told KNS that the party has not signed the letter of support for Mehbooba Mufti becoming next CM. “All the BJP ministers had a meeting to take a decision whether to sign the letter of support to PDP president as CM. Till now we have not signed the letter yet,” sources said, adding that till Monday there is no likelihood of oath taking ceremony.
