Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Friday held a condolence meeting at Congress Party Headquarters Srinagar today to condole the demise of deceased Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syed who breathed his last yesterday. The meeting was presided over by JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir. Prominent among other who attended the meeting include Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad, Former PCC President Prof. Saifuddin Soz and others. Paying rich tributes to Mufti Sahib Senior Congress Leaders recalled his services to the people of the State in different capacities during his long political carrier and lauded his efforts about the equitable development of all the three regions of the State. Describing Mufti Saheb a visionary JKPCC Chief G A Mir has that Mufti Saheb always struggled to strengthen the democratic and secular values in the State and inspired and guided people to adopt the path of democracy and dialogue through non violent means. Paying tributes to Mufti Saheb PCC Chief recalled his long association with the Congress Party and said that Mufti Saheb served the Congress Party to the best of his ability. During his association with the Party he (Mufti Saheb) remained very close to Former Prime Minister Late. Smt. Indira Gandhi and Late. Shri. Rajiv Gandhi and was considered a pillar of the Congress in J&K State. He was capable of defeating forces or factors vitiating atmosphere of peace and tranquility, G.A. Mir said. He said Mufti sahib was a visionary who had the capability of modifying politics according to circumstances and remained committed to provide respite and reach out to the people, in all the three regions, for resolution of issues of whatever nature, confronting them.PCC Chief said. Describing Mufti Saheb a best administrator with a great political acumen, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad while paying glowing tributes to Mufti Saheb said that he (Mufti Saheb) was one of the tallest leader of Country, who remained committed to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and communal harmony in the Country and strongly advocated the healing touch policy in order to address the issues and reach out to the people for redressal of their grievances. A man with great acumen and political wisdom Mufti Saheb always tried to bridge the gapes between the communities and was committed for equitable development of all the three regions of the State. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Saifuddin Soz said that he considers Mufti Saheb as one of the seasoned politician of India who had stood up for politics of secularism and pluralism. Mufti Saheb has rendered his best services to the people of Country in general and Jammu and Kashmir State, in particular, the steps taken by him about the development of the people and State shall always be remembered, Prof. Soz said. Saroori, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Mohd Amin Bhat and others visited Bijbehra and offered Fateh Khawani at the Mazar (Grave) of Mufti Saheb and prayed for eternal peace to departed soul.
