Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) Friday invited separatist as well as mainstream leaders to attend two-day roundtable conference on the Kashmir dispute, slated to be held on 20-21 January. President of PaK, Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan has written to these leaders to attend the two-day roundtable conference at convention centre Islamabad. The invitation reads that The Kashmir Conflict _ its Ramifications for Pak- India Relations and Peace and security of south Asia, The Kashmir Dispute, Hindutve and emergence of Hindu Extremism in India and Proposed Abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35-A of Indian constitution Impact on Kashmir Dispute are the topics which will be discussed in the conference. The separatist leaders include Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, President of Anjuman-e-Shari-e-Shia, Aga Syed Hassan, while the mainstream leaders are CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam, MY Tarigami, AIP president and MLA Langate, Engineer Abdul Rashid and others. Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that invitation was welcome but due to nonavailability of travel documents he would not be able to go. “I wish to attend the two day roundtable conference but unfortunately due to non-availability of travel documents, I can’t attend the conference,” he said. While speaking with KNS, CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami said that he has yet to decide whether he will attend the said conference or not. “I welcome the invitation and will take decision later,” he said. In a statement issued to KNS, AIP President and MLA Langate on Friday said that he will leave for Pakistan on Saturday to attend the conference. President of Anjuman-e-Shari-e-Shia, Aga Syed Hassan said that he will attend the two days conference organized by PaK President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan. In 2006, Pugwash conference was held during General Musharraf’s rule in which several mainstream as well as political leaders took part. While in 2008 a conference was held over Kashmir dispute which was organized by speaker Pakistan administered Kashmir at that time in which former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami, senior PDP leader, Late Iftikhar Ansari and People’s Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Muhammad Yasin participated.
