Anganwadi workers Tursday held a protest here at Srinagar’s press enclave against the administration for not paying their salaries since last 14 months. Scores of Anganwadi workers assembled a Press enclave and raised slogans against administration and were demanding their pending salaries. While talking to KNS, Mehmooda a worker said that the salaries of over 1500 Anganwadi workers are withheld since last 14 months. However, the authorities seem reluctant to release their salaries. “We are being forced to take streets as the government hardly pays heed over our sufferings,” she said. Another lady from Baramullah said, “I am the sole bread earner of my family as my husband is no more but the government pushes us to walls. My family is facing tough time due to it.” She said. They later appealed to the higher ups to look into the matter and release their pending salaries at earliest.
