United India During its struggle for freedom against British witnessed only one Jalianwala Bagh massacre but Kashmiris have witnessed dozens of such massacres carried out by Indian forces from 1990. 21st January is the day that changed the course of our 5000 year old history. This is the day when Kashmiris started a peaceful revolution for freedom and bored Indian bullets on their chests but refused to budge before tyranny and illegal occupation. This was stated by the chairman Jammu Kashmir liberation front (JKLF) Mohammad Yasin Malik while addressing a mammoth gathering at Gaw- Kadal Basant Bagh today. The public rally was organized to commemorate the massacre of 21st January 1990 in which more than 50 people were martyred and hundreds injured when Indian forces and police opened fire on peaceful procession. Before the Jalsa thousands of enthusiastic youth, elders and women led by JKLF chairman marched towards the place of massacre from JKLF headquarters. The participants were chanting slogans in favor of Azadi, JKLF and martyrs. On reaching Gaw Kadal Basant Bagh this rally took the shape of a Jalsa. Besides JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, the Jalsa was addressed by JKLF leaders advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat Master Muhammad Afzal . In his address Yasin Malik said that 21st January is an important day of our 5000 year old history. On this day thousands of unarmed people came out of their houses to demand freedom and protest against the crackdown of Indian forces .These peaceful people were confronted by bullets of Indian forces and police. Same kind of massacres continued at Handwara, Sopore, Sailan Poonch, Zakura, bypass Batamaloo, Magarmal Bagh, Baderwah, Marmat Doda, and Bijebihara, Hazratbal, Gojwara, Mashali Mohalla, Khanyaar, Dalgate etc. the sole aim of India was to terrorize people of Kashmir through these brutal massacres and put an end on their march towards freedom but India failed in doing so as despite all these killings and oppressive measures, people of Jammu Kashmir have continued their revolution and march towards freedom. Yasin Malik said that united India during its freedom struggle witnessed only one Jalianwala Bagh massacre but Kashmiris have witnessed dozens of Jalianwalas carried out by Indians. He said that these tactics and massacres failed to stop Kashmiris march towards freedom in past and will fail to do so in future also. Yasin Malik said that martyrs are our real heroes and whichever party they belong to or whatever ideology they had, JKLF is heir of their sacrifices and today we reiterate our pledge that despite all odds and hardships mission of these sacred martyrs will be taken to its desired goal (In-Sha-Allah). Yasin Malik said that Kashmiris have always safeguarded communal harmony and religious tolerance in Kashmir. He said that in January 1990, Indian government started a mass crackdown against Kashmiri Muslims from Kanikadal and in response Muslims also took to streets against this tyranny and oppression. In this garb rulers facilitated a mass exodus of our Kashmiri Pandit brethren. He said that despite all odds, there are hundreds of Indian Hindus doing business long before from 1947. More than ten thousand pundits are also living in Kashmir and have not left Kashmir. These people are living here without any fear and threat. He said that everyone in Kashmir wants kashmiri pandit brethren to return to their homes and all of us have time and again called for their return but some people among them are hell bent upon defaming Kashmiris Muslims across the globe. Kashmiri pundit community needs to condemn these elements too. He asked those few pundits who are making hue and cry of holocaust and genocide that you yourself name 19th January 1990 as exodus day and today we ask you to provide us all the names of those pundits who were killed until that day. Yasin Malik said that according to government documents’ not more that 250 Pandits lost their lives from 1990 till date but whereas more than one Lakh Kashmiri Muslims have lost their lives so far. More than ten thousand of ours are still missing in forces custody and so on. Isn’t this genocide of Muslims? He said that despite all these massacres and genocide we have not left our motherland neither have we surrendered before the oppression and today when we salute our 21st January 1990 martyrs we pledge to take forward their mission at any cost. While terming the attack on Bacha Khan University at Charsada Peshwar Pakistan as barbaric, Yasin Malik said that attacking educational institutions cannot be termed but as inhuman and uncivilized. He said that attacking educational institutions is inhuman and those involved cannot be termed as humans. He announced to hold a funeral prayers meeting in absentia for Peshawar martyrs. After the Jalsa JKLF leader Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi led the funeral prayers in absentia for Peshawar university martyrs in which thousands of people participate. After the Jalsa and prayers in absentia, people marched towards the 21st January martyrs memorial at Basantbagh where a prayers meeting was held for the martyrs.
