The organizational elections of Jo-e Adab Kaej Nag Handwara, a literary and cultural organization associated with Adbee Markaz Kamraz, were held today at TRC Kargam Handwara. The office-bearers were elected for a two-year term through secret ballot and unanimous vote, as per constitution of the organization. The incumbent Patron Prof Sanaullah Sanayee and President Muhammad Sadeeq Mukhlis were re-elected unanimously. Ghulam Rasool Sayal and Fareeda Shouq got elected Vice-Presidents also through unanimous vote. In a stiff contest, Arshad Mohiudin got elected as General Secretary through secret ballot, defeating Javaid Iqbal Mawri with two votes. However Mawri was elected Additional General Secretary through unanimous vote. Pervez Majeed was re-elected Media Secretary again through unanimous vote. Syed Javid Masroor got re-elected as Treasurer unanimously while as Syed Mumtaz Bukhari was elected Auditor through secret ballot. He defeated Mir Dilawar Haril with five votes. Pertinently, Prof Sanaullah Sanayee, Muhammad Sadeeq Mukhlis and Pervez Majeed were re-elected to their posts for the seventh consecutive term. Incumbent Vice-President Shafi Ahmad Zargar Mawri and General Secretray Fayeq Maqbool didn’t stand in the elections. As per the constitution of the organization, the President nominated two members – Fayeq Maqbool and Mir Mushtaq Qazi-Abadi for the Executive Committee. Mir Mushtaq Qazi-Abadi has been selected as origination’s representative for the Executive Council of the Adbee Markaz Kamraz. The elections were held under the supervision of District Incharge of Yateem Trust Kupwara Ghulam Ahmad Kumar and noted litterateur Bashir Mangwalpori. All the basic members of organization participated in the elections. Speaking on the occasion, the newly-elected office bearers resolved to accelerate efforts for promotion of literary activities in the Kupwara district. The Patron and the President impressed upon the members to identify the budding talent of art and literature in their respective villages. “The budding art needs to be identified and encouraged and Jo-e-Adab will be a platform for them to excel and get noticed,” they maintained. Established in August 2000, Jo-e-Adab is active as a literary and cultural organization since past 15 years in Kupwara district, with focus on Handwara and Langate areas.
