Director General of Police, (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar Wednesday flagged off a group of students from two provinces of the State, participating in Apna Wattan Project Programme, under Civic Action Programme of JKP. The flag off ceremony of the tour was organized by Commandant IRP-17th Battalion at the lawns of Police Headquarters (PHQ) here this evening. Speaking on the flag off ceremony, Rajendra disclosed that the students drawn from various districts of Valley and Jammu would visit various parts of the country. During the weeklong tour they will be able to enhance the knowledge about the country’s development and interact with the different personalities. He said our aim is to provide platform the youth to encourage and get opportunity know the historical background of the country and enhance the knowledge about the cultural and educational set up of various states. Rajendra disclosed that the touring students would visit\various states including Delhi, Mumbay, Goa and historical places, educational institutions in these states. They will interact with eminent personalities, scholars, educationists and others during the tour and earn a lot about the latest technologies. He said that India has a rich civilization in context of scientific and technological advances and the youth should have knowledge of these things, which could help in their future career. He said that the interactions with the students of other institutions would make them to acquaint with cultural diversity of the country and make them committed to Nation’s progress by inculcating sense of patriotisms in them. Earlier, the Commandant IRP 17th Bn. Roop Raj, who is also Nodal Officer of the Programme, gave a detailed resume of the tour and briefed the DGP about the youth drawn from different poor pockets of various districts across the State and the arrangements made for their boarding and lodging during the tour. Among others, the function was attended by ADsGP, SP Vaid, Navin Agerwal, SM Sahai and L Mohanti, IsGP, HK Lohia, Yoginder Koul, and SL Sharma, DIsGP, Alok Kumar, SA Mujtaba and Pawan Gupta, SSP Jammu. Uttam Chand, AIsGP, Dr. Haseeb Mughal, Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, Tahir Sajad, Kulbir Sing and Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, Commandants of Armed/IRP Bns. and other police officers.
