While strongly condemning the killing of a youth and a woman in forces firing in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Sunday, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin demanded an impartial and time-bound probe into the incident. In a statement to KNS Hakim Yasin said, “The killings are highly condemnable and need impartial and time-bound probe. The guilty must be punished and a mechanism evolved so that such incidents aren’t repeated.” Reminding New Delhi of its zero tolerance promise on human rights violations, he said, “All these statements have proven a hoax. Such killings further alienate the people of Kashmir which is a cause of concern. Government of India should immediately devise a mechanism so that such unfortunate incidents are stopped and guilty are punished.” “Is it in the destiny of Kashmiris to get killed every day? Instead of providing employment to youth, they are being killed and harassed which is unfortunate,” he rued. The MLA Khansahib also condemned the harassment of Kashmiri students in New Delhi by police in the wake of protests against the hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru in Jawaharlal Nehru University. “By playing with the career of the students, authorities are pushing Kashmiris to the wall. Such harsh steps shouldn’t be taken if someone is speaking truth. They haven’t done anything which can disturb the peace and tranquility,” the PDF chief added.
