Srinagar | May 16 : The advisory council (Majlis-i-Shoura) of Hurriyat Conference (G) today held an important meeting at Hyderpora head office which was presided over by the Chairman of the forum Syed Ali Geelani after a long gap. The meeting was attended by the heads or the representatives of Muslim Conference, Muslim League, Mass Movement, People’s League, Muslim Democratic League, Democratic Political Movement, Kashmir Freedom Front, Islamic Political Party, Tehreek-e-Mazahamat, National Front, Freedom Party, Anjuman Share-i-Shia, Tehreek-e-Khawateen Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Wahadat-i-Islami, Jammu & Kashmir Insaf Party and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.
The meeting thoroughly discussed the proposals of the Sainik Colonies, separate townships for the Kashmiri Pandits, induction of the New Industrial Policy and announcement of medical colleges after the Indian Supreme Court decision on NEET and to counter these dangerous plans, the executive body also discussed the future strategies in this regard.
While summing-up the suggestions and views of members of the advisory council, Geelani in his presidential address said that India is working on different plans to strengthen and prolong its forced occupation in Jammu & Kashmir and the inception of the new BJP-PDP coalition government have accelerated the implementation of these plans and the communal forces are using the government machinery for the implementation of the RSS agendas.
He said that the Mehbooba Mufti and her party (PDP) are extending their every help and cooperation in the execution of these communal agendas and she had sold the collective interests and the identity of the Kashmiri nation for the chair.
Geelani said that the recent statements of the BJP leaders regarding the Sainik Colonies have proven that Mehbooba Mufti, her cabinet ministers and some officials of the civil administration are lying over this issue and are keeping the people in dark. The circumstantial evidences indicate that Mehbooba Mufti and the Bhajpa had previously entered into some agreement with regarding to the establishment of the Sainik Colonies and this deal had deliberately been kept hidden from the general public.
On the creation of the separate townships for the Pindits, Geelani reiterated his part stand that no Kashmiri is opposing or against the return of the Pandits to the Valley.
“Both the communities had lived in harmony in the past and they will continue to do so in the future. He said that the policy makers of India want to divide the two communities on the religious lines and want to project Kashmir as a communal issue, “Geelani said, and clearly stated that Kashmir is not any Hindu-Muslim issue but it is the battle between an oppressor and the oppressed and we are fighting India because this country had snatched the freedom rights of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and we want that it (India) should fulfill its promises made with the Kashmiris on national and international levels.
He also made his patient and humble appeal to the Pandit community that they should not support the any such proposal or plan which will cut off them from the rest of the society and which will harm the brotherhood of the Kashmiri nation.
While outrightly rejecting the new Industrial Policy, the Hurriyat Chairman said that India want to weaken the special status of the Kashmir in every possible ways and want to convert the Muslim majority into minorities here. This country wants to settle the non-state subjects in the Jammu & Kashmir on different names and schemes and want to snatch the livelihood of the Kashmiri traders and businessmen.
“For this purpose the RSS backed government had formulated a new industrial policy which will open the doors for the Indian industrialists in the state,” he observed.
While terming the announcement of the new medical colleges in the state as lollipop, Geelani said that these colleges will admit non-local students and their condition will be like the engineering college NIT Srinagar.
The Hurriyat chairman clearly stated that we will not let the RSS and the Sang Parivar to succeed in their evil designs in Kashmir and the Kashmiri people will resist them in every possible ways. Hurriyat Conference takes its responsibilities very seriously and they will not show any kind of weakness or negligence in this regard. Geelani said that they always welcome tourists in Kashmir with open arms and our nation feel pride in serving them but for not disturbing the upcoming tourist season, we can’t shut our eyes from our national responsibilities and it is not possible to ignore the wicked policies of the RSS and Jan Sangh.
“We want to warn the BJP-PDP coalition government that if they failed to halt the above mentioned anti-Kashmir plans and any misuse of the government machinery will trigger a sharp and serious reaction from the general public and they can sacrifice anything for their existence,” he observed.
