Srinagar : Sah-I-Wali Institute of Martial Arts, Kathpura (Hajin, Sonawari) under the aegis of J&K State Taekwondo federation in association with Army Camp at Manasbal organised a two day event of Bandipora District Taekwondo Championship on 29th & 30th May 2016 at the sports ground of AGS, Hajin.
Over 150 martial arts enthusiasts from various villages of Bandipora district participated in the event with enthusiasm and zeal. The 1st District level Taekwondo championship was organised from 22 Augest to 23 Aug 2015 in the same venue and event was a grand sucess and highly appreciated by the locals. Martial arts veterans Mr Izaz Ahmed (coach from state taekwondo federation), Mr Aafaq Sadiq (Instructor and secretary of taekwondo association, Bandipora dist), Mr Manzoor (Instructor, sopore) and various other martial arts veterans attended the event. The preliminary rounds were conducted on 29th May and the final was held on 30th May where in various martial arts techniques and power demonstrations were showcased by the young martial arts students besides the final bouts.
Mr Aafaq Sadiq said that the event was organised with the aim of engaging the youth and developing their interests in the field of martial arts and sports as well as weaning the youth from prevailing evils of drug abuse. This gesture of Army was applauded by the participants and the local populace.
