Srinagar | June 10 : Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani Sahab continues to remain under the house imprisonment and he was today forcibly barred by the police from participating in the Friday congregational prayers on the first Friday of this holy month of Ramadan, the amalgam said in a statement.
It said that it is the tenth consecutive Friday in 2016 when the 86 years old pro-freedom leader was stopped from his important religious obligation.
While strongly condemning the government actions, Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that Mehbooba Mufti has adopted the same policies against the Geelani Sahab which her late father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Omar Abdullah had followed so far and he continues to serve the illegal detention without any legal or constitutional justifications.
“This process was started in 2010 and it continues from the last 6 years. Hurriyat spokesman also criticized the government for the continuous house arrest of Hurriyat Secretary General Shabir Ahmad Shah and said that he is being subjected to the political vengeance ever since he had joined the Hurriyat conference and his activities have been completely banned,” Akbar said.
