Sopore, June 18: A complete shutdown is being observed in Sopore town on Saturday to mourn the death of a local militant.
Altaf Ahmed Mir of Brath and Ishfaq Ahmed of Wasun of Hibz outfit died in a brief gunbattle with government forces in Bomai village of Sopore town on friday, Sparking massive protests and clashes in multiple hamlets of the town.
All the shops and business establishments are closed while public transport is off the roads.
Meanwhile reports reached that early morning of saturday protestors blocked Sopore-Kupwara road at Shangargund and were shouting anti-islamic slogans.
Group of youth also hoisted Pakistan flags at main chowk sopore during clashes.
