Srinagar | June 19 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Ahmad Bukhari Sunday called for taking tangible measures to check the soil erosion in Baramulla district.
The Minister was chairing a joint meeting of officers regarding the continuous soil erosion in Kandi areas of Sangrama, Baramulla and Tangmarg constituencies. The meeting held threadbare discussion about the issue and suggested various preventive/remedial measures need to be taken to arrest the soil erosion in these areas.
The meeting was attended by the Director Agriculture, Director Horticulture, Director Geology and Mining, Conservators of Forest North Circle and Joint Director Planning besides other district and Block level officers.
During the meeting the Minister constituted a joint survey team headed by Director Geology and Mining including officers from Agriculture, Forest, Horticulture, IWMP and Rural Development Department its members to conduct a survey to suggest concrete measures to overcome the problem so that habitations of these areas are protected besides loss of and property is avoided. The Joint Director Planning shall be the Nodal officers.
The Minister directed the concerned to conduct the survey from Kaleban Baramulla upto Teetran Haji Band Tangmarg, Fresthar Baramulla upto Walhar, Shrakum upto Naribal, Kreeri to Bandibala T.Y Shah and Kheipora to Zean. The team after complete survey will observe and projectize the survey so that it is linked with any centrally sponsored scheme to avail appropriate relief.
The Minister urged officers to work in coordination for the welfare of public which is main motive of present government. He said government is keen to ensure development and welfare of people of the State and all possible measures are being taken in this regard.
The Minister said the government is going to launch Rehabilitation policy for the State with budgetary support so that concrete setup is established to provide succor to affected people during any natural calamity or disaster.
