As the Kashmir is witnessing protests; several NGOs and volunteer groups have accused paramilitary forces of hindering their work while providing life-saving drugs and essential help to the patients.
Several volunteers told that they were thrashed by security forces at various locations of the valley while performing their work.
One of the volunteer associated with Help poor voluntary trust (HPVT) said “Our ambulances were stopped by security forces at Pulwama who were carrying patients to Srinagar. Despite showing them our identity cards they slapped and abused our driver” he said.
He also said that not only they snatched our identity cards but smashed the ambulance windows and ruthlessly thrashed both driver and patients.
Meanwhile, other volunteer organizations have also expressed their deep anguish over the highhandness done by police and CRPF against them.
Another volunteer associated with the Athroth said that “On way to SKIMS while carrying essential drugs for the injured patients who had received bullet injuries, we were stopped by police personnels and were asked not to provide the facilities to the injured persons”.
He said that despite being known about the fact that they are arranging drugs, blood and food for the injured persons and their attendants, they are deliberately hampering smooth flow of their work.
In order to save precious lives in Kashmir hundreds of volunteers have come up to help patients carrying them to hospitals and provide them life saving drugs.“Volunteers are working for the welfare of the people as they put their life on risk to help the patients their work is appreciable” said one of the official at SKIMS.
“Their cooperation is must at the time when there is shortage of availability of medicine to take care of injured persons” he added. (The Kashmir Monitor )
