Srinagar, A policemen, a militant and two civilians were killed in a brief shootout at Malpora area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday evening.
Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid told news agency GNS that a police party at Malpora on Qazigund-Kulgam road was clearing the traffic when the militant group comprising three members opened indiscriminate fire upon them.
The cops retaliated resulting into the killing of a militant, DGP said, adding that his identity is being ascertained.
In the attack four policemen and two civilians sustained serious bullet wounds, DGP said.
All the injured were immediately evacuated to the nearby hospital where a cop (follower) and two civilians succumbed to injuries, DGP said, adding that three injured policemen reffered to armmy’s 92 base hospital.
One more militant also sustained injuries and managed to fled from the spot. However, the cops managed to snatch a pistol from his possession.
A massive hunt has been launched to find out the militant by following his blood strains, he said. (GNS)
