Sopore : Scores of Private Bank employees on Tuesday staged protest demonstration against alleged number of backdoor appointments in Mercantile Cooperative Bank in Sopore.
While demanding cancellation of such backdoor appointments in Mercantile Cooperative Bank Sopore made by managing department without any notification, the protesting employees said that we want disengagement of those 9 appointed persons and stern action against the bank officials involved in this scam. They said that appointments without notification is banned but people in power continue flout the order.
The protesting employees also demand immediate release of pending salaries and other wages, however after protesting for hours the employees visited traders Federation Sopore and submitted their memorandum.
Meanwhile Traders Federation President Sopore Haji Mohammad Ashraf said that we can work as a bridge between protesting employees and administration, he said that we can put our efforts for saving the bank and can listen from both sides, President said that we don’t wanna bank should face more losses, added that If protesting employees demand is genuine we will support them fully, he however added that we will investigate matter and will come up with a positive solution due to which bank will run as per schedule and public will not suffer.
When contacted Ex board of directorate of Kashmir Mercantile cooperative Bank Sopore Advocate Mir Imtiyaz said that all allegation is baseless and requested trade body to investigate properly into the matter so that reality comes out.
Meanwhile despite repeated attempts Managing director of Mercantile Cooperative Bank was not available for commits.
When contacted registor Cooperative society JandK Hafeezullah told Kashmir Despatch that he is not aware of this matter, he however added that may be few persons for their personal benefits are doing such things and are highlighted negatively of organisation. He said that we have a proper system and through which only eligible candidate will be appointed and that too as per requirement. While answering the question regarding organisation board and elections which since years not held in Mercantile Cooperative Bank Sopore he said that all such information is baseless as we have a board there who are holding elections as well as proper time. He however added that will look into this matter.
