Rafiabad : Army on Friday had claimed to have killed five Lashkar-e-Toiba foreigner militants in an encounter which they said broke out in Rafiabad forests on early 08 August.
Commandant of 7 Sector Dharam Raj Rai in a press conference said that we had credible intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in jungles and adjoining areas of Rafiabad with effect from 5 Aug.
He said that on 7 Aug there was likely to be an infiltration in the Lidder Panzal area as per credible sources because of which we had placed a number of interception groups to trap these militants,
Commander Dharam Raj Rai of 7 Sector while addressing media said that at wee hours on 8 Aug while carrying out search of the area, a searching party was upon by hiding militants in the jungle. In the ensuing gunfight for several hours forces killed all five hiding heavy armed militants, however one of the soldier was also injured earlier who was evacuated to hospital for treatment by helicopter.
Commander Dharam Raj said that troopers on ground have succeeded in foiling the infiltration bid of a five militants who were very heavily armed, he also claimed recovery of “huge quantity of arms, ammunition, from the possession of the slain militants.
The recovery commander said after detailed search of the area include 4 AK 47 rifles, one pistol and a large amount of war like sustenance were recovered from them.
