Baramulla : Chorkhud a village adjacent to famous tourist resort Gulmarg , lacks even the basic facilities of life. Comprising over 30000 households of Gujjer Bakarwals, it is one of the most neglected village of North Kashmri’s Baramulla District.
Lack of basic facilities including proper approach roads, medical facilities, education and other basic amenities, causing immense hardships to the residents of Chorkhud village.
Inhabitants of the village in this hilly area while expressing anguish over the dilapidated condition of road said that the authorities have turned a blind eye towards its repairing, while from the other end this village is just 14 kilometres away from Boniyar.
“We have been staying here since seven generations. We are morethan 30 thousand house holds here in this beautiful part of Valley.They said that successive regimes have constantly ignored us. They only use us as vote banks,” they complained.
The poor people of missing part of Baramulla district also said that villages, comprising of thousands of souls, still are cut of with the rest of the world even despite centrally sponsored schemes, like PMGSY being present in the state.
The people urged the Governor and district administration to look into their grievances and mitigate their sufferings.
