Srinagar : Scholar turned militant in Kashmir, Manan Wani, 26, in one of his letters had written that he was reading “politics, learning sciences and deliberating on the streams of ideas.”
He further wrote, “I was looking around and identifying my place in the society. I was growing, interacting and knowing. By 2009, I began synthesising my own wisdom, and I developed my own critique.”
As a student, Wani used to write a blog at “Words Matter!” and also contribute articles to various newspapers.
On Thursday late night, The Kashmir Walla visited his home in Tikipora village of Kupwara district – 120 kilometers from Srinagar, where his father Bashir Ahmed Wani, a lecturer in college, opened the cupboard of his son’s room, exhibiting some of Manan’s books, medals and passes of various academic conferences, where he was a speaker.
Here is the list of books found in Manan Wani’s room in Kashmir:
Wani had quit his PhD degree from Aligarh Muslim University in January 2018 to join militant ranks, becoming commander of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit.
