Voting is underway for the final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, with a voter turnout of 28.12% recorded as of 11 AM. This phase includes 40 seats, with 24 in the Jammu division and 16 in Kashmir. The results will be announced on October 8, as reported by Indian Express.
As the polls progress, prominent assembly segments in three border districts of north Kashmir are participating in the elections under tight security measures. This phase marks the last voting for the Scheduled Tribe seat in Gurez and all seven Scheduled Caste-reserved seats in Jammu, including Akhnoor, Bishnah, Kathua, Marh, Ramgarh, Ramnagar, and Suchetgarh.
In terms of previous phases, the first phase recorded a turnout of 61.38% on September 18, while the second phase saw a lower turnout of 57.31% on September 25. The 2014 elections had an overall turnout of 65.52%.
The Election Commission is closely monitoring the polling process, ensuring a smooth and secure voting experience for all eligible voters.
