SOPORE, Sep 13: The residents of Sopore have shown resentment against piling up of garbage in the town with the municipal council authorities ruing shortage of hoopers in the town.
An official of Municipal Council Sopore said that there are 21 wards in the Sopore town with manpower and around seven hoopers to collect the garbage.
“Out of seven hoopers, two are defunct, two were seized by the traffic department for non availability of papers. Only three hoopers are tackling the 21 wards which makes it a bit hectic to sanitise the area well on time,” he added.
The locals of Sopore have shown resentment against the non availability of hoopers and late collection of garbage from their wards.
“The locals have genuine demands but they should understand that without a required number of hoopers we can’t make it happen. We request the administration, the higher ups to provide more hoopers for the town,” the official added.
