SRINAGAR, Mar 9: Muzamil Mahmood, a young footballer from the Ganderbal area of central Kashmir, has become the first A-licensed coach from the region after passing the Asian Football Confederation A Licence Diploma.
Mahmood’s achievement is a significant milestone for the development of football in Jammu and Kashmir, a region that has seen a surge in interest in the sport in recent years.
His success is not only a personal accomplishment but also a source of pride for the local community in Ganderbal.
Mahmood, who is also a school teacher with six postgraduate degrees, has won the Best Coach award for promoting football in J&K state.
He has managed the FC Kolhapur City Club in the Indian Women’s League, which is the top tier league of women’s football in India, and was also appointed as the Head Coach of the Chandigarh Santosh Trophy team.
Speaking about his achievement, Mahmood told Kashmir Despatch that “It was a dream come true for me and a result of years of hard work and perseverance.”
“The course was a very fruitful experience, and I not only got to know about the finer nuances of coaching but also understood how vastly different coaching is from playing. Coaching has been my passion throughout my entire life, besides playing.” Mahmood’s success is sure to inspire aspiring coaches and football enthusiasts in the region and beyond.
