Unauthorized absence:16 doctors, paramedics found absent video went viral

BANDIPORA, Mar 9: Patient care at the Public Health Centre (PHC) in Chuntimullah village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, suffers due to the unauthorized absence of doctors.

The video which went viral on social media dated 7th of March shows that 16 doctors including Paramedics staff were found absent from their duties and the rooms of the hospital were locked at 12:00 Pm.

Talking to the Kashmir Despatch, one of the local residents said that the PHC has all the machinery but due to the unauthorized absence of doctors peoples of the area have to travel 10 km’s for slightest toothache to reach the district hospital.

The video shows only one doctor present in PHC out of 17 doctors posted there, the locked rooms of PHC are raising several questions for the Health Department. “We have requested several times from authorities to look into this matter, but nobody cares,” locals of the village said.

The residents appealed to District Administration Bandipora to take strict action against the doctors who are found absent from their duties. Meanwhile, when contacting Block Medical officer Bandipora, Dr Masrat Iqbal said that a team has been formed to investigate the matter.
