Folk music festival begins in Kupwara

Kupwara ; The two-day folk music festival began on Thursday in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch reads, The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (JKAACL) under the supervision of Sh. Bharat Singh (JKAS) secretary (JKAACL) and with the active support of Govt Degree College Kupwara successfully organised two-day folk music festival at GDC Kupwara.

The program was inaugurated by Honable Principal GDC kupwara Prof.Mohammad Shafi Lone. Besides prof .Mehraj Bashir ,Prof.Gh Rasool ,Dr.Showkat Ah.Malik,Dr.Ali Mohammad,Dr.Ab Rashid etc.

The program was started with the welcome adress of Dr Iqbal Afrooz (Distt coordinator cultural Activities Kupwara) Followed by Folk Theatre Groups who performed on this occasion were, Snober theatre Gulgam Kupwara , Nownihal Bhaghat theatre,Dilkash folk theatre ,Noor shah dhambali Dance centre, Chadora,Qazi Kashmir theatre Bomai Sopore.

On this occasion ,Principal GDC Kupwara Prof.Mohammad Shafi Lone appreciated the first ever mega event of its kind in the far flung areas.

He also mentioned and appreciated JKAACL Srinagar for conducting such types of quality programs in this area especially at this venue.

This was really a great concept of organising the event for young generation.

The event was fully enjoyed by the students, Faculty members,locals and prominent of the Area for long three hours.

At the end Dr Iqbal Afrooz (Distt coordinator cultural Activities Kupwara) made vote of thanks to everyone. Dr Iqbal Afrooz also made special thanks to Principal Mohammad Shafi Lone provide venue and extended his full support for organizing of such wonderful event.

The proceedings was conducted by Dr.Iqbal Afrooz efficiently.
