KULGAM, Mar 21: Chief Executive Officer Mission Youth, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, said on Wednesday that around ten thousand youth in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir have been provided self-employment avenues under various government initiatives in just one and a half years.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a function in Kulgam, Dr. Shahid, as per the Kashmir Despatch, said that under Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s leadership, #MissionYouth has started youth engagement programmes to provide a platform for youth under various government initiatives.
Dr. Sahid said Deputy Commissioners have headed this initiative on the district level, and Kulgam has been one of the districts in which this initiative has had great outreach.
He said Kulgam has set an example not only in tourism but also in youth engagement programmes in order to promote local areas and culture.
Answering the question regarding government jobs in the UT, Dr. Shahid said that already more than the 30K requirement has been met and that in the coming days more notifications will be issued for different posts.
He said government jobs are not the only sources for the youth; there are many avenues related to tourism, horticulture, and entrepreneurship. The work the youth did has already set an example.
He said that now new projects are being launched in the UT, and for all those opportunities, avenues training is a must so that people can benefit from all the schemes in order to generate employment for others also.
