Provide public transport in left out areas of Srinagar

Date:

Srinagar, the beautiful capital city of Jammu and Kashmir, is known for its scenic beauty and rich cultural heritage. However, despite being a popular tourist destination, many areas in the city still lack basic infrastructure, including public transport services. This lack of connectivity can cause significant difficulties for residents, particularly those who are economically disadvantaged or do not have access to private transportation.

The need for public transport services in unconnected areas of Srinagar cannot be overstated. Public transportation is a vital component of any modern city, providing affordable and efficient means of transportation for citizens. In addition to providing a convenient way for people to travel to work, school, and other important destinations, public transportation also helps reduce traffic congestion, air pollution, and carbon emissions.

Unfortunately, many areas in Srinagar still lack public transport services, leaving residents stranded and unable to access critical services. For instance, people living in the outskirts of the city, such as in Wanbal to Humhama via Yayil-Rawalpora have no public transportation options, not to talk of peak hours.

The lack of public transport infrastructure in these areas can also impact the local economy, with businesses struggling to transport goods and services to and from their premises. This, in turn, can lead to higher costs for consumers and lower productivity for local businesses, further exacerbating the problem.

To address this issue, the government needs to invest in public transport infrastructure in unconnected areas of Srinagar. This could include the development of new bus routes, the introduction of bike-sharing programs, or the construction of new light-rail lines.

However, investing in public transportation infrastructure is just the first step. Ensuring that these services are reliable, affordable, and accessible to all residents, regardless of their socio-economic background, is equally important.
