Srinagar, May 02 : National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah Tuesday said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has failed to take decisions independently in the last few years and the National Conference won’t beg before anyone for elections.

As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), talking to reporters at GMC Anantnag, Omar said that they (BJP) aren’t in a position to face people but “we won’t beg before anyone for elections.” Omar was at GMC to inquire about the health of party leader Altaf Ahmed Kaloo’s father, who is not keeping well.

“If (ECI) doesn’t want to conduct elections nobody is going to beg before them,” he said. “ECI has failed to take decisions independently in the last few years and any decision is being taken only after a green signal from the Union Government.”

Omar since no decision has been taken about J&K polls, it indicates that ECI has not got the green signal from the Centre so far. “Hitting roads won’t lead us to elections and we will not beg before anyone,” he said.

To a query about ongoing projects in J&K; Omar said that Srinagar has been turned into a mess in the name of smart city project. “People are facing huge inconvenience in the name of development ahead of G-20 event,” he said—(KNO)
