Promotes Cycling and Green Energy

Baramulla, May 27: Major General Rajesh Sethi, GOC (General Officer Commanding) of the 19 Infantry Division in Baramulla, emphasized the significant role played by the Chinar 9 Jawan Club in shaping the future of the youth.
Speaking at a gathering held at the club, Major General Sethi highlighted the club’s establishment in 2016 by the Indian Army, in collaboration with ONGC CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and the NGO Richa Formation.
The primary objective behind setting up the club was to provide support to the youth in securing a better future.
According to a report in Kashmir Despatch, Major General Sethi stated that the Chinar 9 Jawan Club is instrumental in preparing the youth for their livelihoods and ensuring a prosperous future. As part of efforts to promote a healthier lifestyle and an eco-friendly environment, the GOC also inaugurated a cycling club during the event.
The occasion also witnessed the felicitation of Adnan Bashir, a Kashmiri cyclist who emerged as the winner of the Ride Kashmir Cycle Rally 2022 edition. Subsequently, 18 enthusiastic cyclists embarked on a journey to Baramulla, spreading awareness about the importance of a pollution-free environment.
The cycling rally covered a distance up to Eco Park, with plans for even greater distances in the future.
An army official, speaking to Kashmir Despatch, expressed his belief that such a noble and thoughtful initiative by the Indian Army has the potential to transform the outlook of Kashmir. The official envisaged a future where women and youth in the region rely more on bicycles and green energy, contributing to a better tomorrow.
