Over 3 dozen JKLF members, erstwhile separatists detained in Srg

Police say they were planning to revive JKLF, Hurriyat

Srinagar : Over three dozen members of Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and erstwhile separatists were detained from a restaurant in Srinagar on Sunday where a meeting was being held to ‘revive the JKLF and Hurriyat’ in the Union Territory.

Sources said that the meeting among the JKLF members and erstwhile separatists was going on at a local restaurant near Police Station Kothibagh.

However, police after receiving a specific tipoff conducted searches and detained all the participants for verification.

A few among the detained persons include Masroor Ansari of Hurriyat, Shamshiuddin Rehman of Hurriyat, Firdous Ahmed Shah of JKLF, Mohd Rafiq Pehlu of JKLF and Mohd Yasin Bhat of JKLF.

Meanwhile, Srinagar police in a tweet said that inquiry has been started in this regard while prima facie it has come out that the detained persons were planning to revive JKLF and Hurriyat.

“A Search was conducted on basis of credible info about meeting of some ex-trts of JKLF & erstwhile separatists in a hotel in Srinagar. They were brought to Kothibagh PS for verification. Inquiry has started, prima facie it came out that they were planning to revive JKLF & hurriyat,” Srinagar Police tweeted—(KNO)
