Baramulla, July 31 ; Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday claimed to have frozen and seized cash to the tune of Rs. 16.33 lacs from one drug peddler in Uri town.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch Police sais, a team led by Shokat Ali SDPO Uri and assisted by Inspr Mohd Shafi SHO PS Uri frozen and seized cash to the tune of Rs. 16.33 lacs belonging to a drug smuggler, namely Maqsood Ahmad Bhatti, son of Bagh Ali Bhatti of Madiyan Kamalkote, after obtaining legal sanction from competent authorities.
The said cash was linked to case FIR No. 22/2023 u/s 8/21, 27 NDPS Act of Police Station Uri. The investigation proved that the said movable property in the form of cash was raised or used for Illicit Trafficking by the drug Smuggler.
It is pertinent to mention here that cash to the tune of Rs. 14.76 lacs was recovered from the said drug smuggler at the time of registration, and an amount to the tune of Rs. 1.56 lacs that was lying in his bank accounts was frozen after receiving orders from competent authorities, the officer further added.
