The residents of Sopore took to the streets again on Monday to voice their discontent and protest against the installation of electric smart metres in the town.
According to the Kashmir Despatch Correspondent, scores of women gathered in the Naseerabad area to express their grievances.
The protestors raised slogans against the power development department, holding them responsible for installing smart metres in the town.
The aggrieved residents said that they cannot afford the inflated bills generated by Smart Metres because they belong to poor families and cannot afford smart metres.
They said that given their economic condition, they wouldn’t be able to afford exorbitant bills.
Pertinently, For the past few weeks, residents from various Sopore localities have been staging protests against the installation of Smart Metres.
