The abrogation of Article 370 has brought about a significant transformation in the lives of people residing near the Line of Control (LOC) in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

A symbol of this change is the revered Sharda temple in Teetwal Karnah, which has become a beacon of hope and happiness for the local populace.

Inaugurated earlier this year by Union Home Minister Amit Shah through an E-inauguration, the Sharda temple has witnessed a remarkable resurgence following the revocation of Article 370.

It now serves as a place of solace and pilgrimage for devotees from across the country, fostering a sense of unity and spirituality among the people of different religions.

Locals while talking with Kashmir Despatch said that the restoration and revitalization of the Sharda temple have had a profound impact on the lives of the locals, rekindling their faith and providing a sense of belonging.

“This has also strengthened the cultural ties that were once overshadowed by political turmoil,” the locals of Teetwal Karnah said.

With newfound accessibility, the temple has revitalized the local economy, with numerous businesses, including homestays, flourishing in the vicinity.

Beyond religious boundaries, the temple has become a symbol of religious harmony, attracting devotees from different faiths who come together to seek blessings and spiritual solace.

This interfaith congregation underscores the message of unity and tolerance in the region, fostering communal harmony amidst diverse communities.

Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Aijaz Ahmad, one of the caretakers, expressed gratitude to Ravindra Pandita for making the temple possible at this place.

Aijaz lauded the efforts to construct a masjid next to the Gurdwara and Temple, aiming to spread a clear message of brotherhood to the world.

“Having a Masjid, Gurudwara and a Temple side by side will spread a clear message of brotherhood and unity,” he added.

The Indian army’s support and cooperation in this endeavor have been widely acknowledged by the locals, who believe that without the army’s efforts, this transformation would not have been possible.

“We thank the Indian army for their relentless support in this endeavor as it wouldn’t have been made possible with their active support,” the locals further added.

They said that the Sharda temple continues to change the lives of people in Teetwal Karnah, it represents a beacon of hope for the region, reminding everyone of the transcendent power of faith, unity, and progress.

The upcoming visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to the temple further underlines the government’s commitment to fostering cultural exchange and improving the lives of people in the region.
