The chemists and druggists in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, on Tuesday held their long-awaited election.
After an 18-year pause in this vital electoral process, the town’s pharmaceutical community came together to exercise their voting rights, culminating in the election of Showkat Mahiddin Lone as their esteemed president.
Jehangir Ahmad, an in-charge of the election board, confirmed that the election proceedings unfolded smoothly at Dak Bunglow in Sopore. With a total of 116 eligible voters participating, each person had the opportunity to cast their vote in support of their preferred candidates.
Out of the 116 votes, Showkat Mahiddin Lone, known as Shahji, emerged victorious with an impressive tally of 73 votes.
Delighting in this incredible show of support, he was officially declared as the new President of the chemists and druggists of Sopore town.
