Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh on Saturday said that Sopore town in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, which was known for militancy and terrorism, is now terror-free.
Talking to the media on the sidelines of a function at District Police Line in Sopore, as per Kashmir Despatch correspondent, the DGP said security agencies are now proud of the fact that Jammu and Kashmir by and large is moving towards a terror-free region.
The next challenge on the agenda is to combat narcotics-related terrorism, drug smuggling, and drug abuse with equal diligence.
The authorities are now shifting their focus towards making Jammu and Kashmir drug-free, considering it a top priority.
DGP Singh the presence of militants has considerably decreased, resulting in a decline in the number of active terrorists.
